As Governor and Chairman of the Virgin Islands Public
Finance Authority, I have been pleased with the progress
that has been made over the past several months soliciting
input from the community for the redevelopment and improvements
to the Frederiksted Waterfront, Veterans Park and surrounding
beaches.
I made a commitment to the business men and women and
the people of St. Croix that i would do all within my
power to develop this island into a world recognized visitor
destination, promoting our rich culture, vibrant history
and unique architecture. My administration has outlined
the initiatives to aggressively work with the business
community to develop an individual and specific tourism
identity for St. Croix that would create a unique attraction
to potential vacationers and one in which Virgin Islanders
and Crucians in particular can be proud.
This administration is pledged to improve the image of
the town of Christiansted and Frederiksted. Under my direction,
we have partnered and made funds and resources available
to Our Town frederiksted, St. Croix Foundation for Community
Development and the St. Croix anti-Litter and Beautification
Commission to support your efforts to rehabilitate, restore
and clean the historic properties of both towns.
We have made progress in the design stages to enhance
the majestic tribute to the Veterans Park and the frederiksted
town area that highlights the beauty of our historic structures.
we intend to address the salt pond to transform it to
a living lagoon. a rejuvenated park beckons visitors to
walk through the town and take in the beauty and the warmth
of our people.
As we continue to improve and develop our natural resources
on the island of St. Croix, i express my appreciation
and gratitude to all of the community organizations as
we continue to work together on this truly exciting project.
Charles W. Turnbull, Ph.D.
